The screening of the highly anticipated Batman movie at a Colorado movie theatre became chaotic and horrifying after a masked gunman opened fire to the crowd ---- killing 12 people and wounded 59 more.
The suspect in the shooting rampage at the Friday showing (July 20) of "The Dark Knight Rises" has been identified as James Holmes. The 24-years-old suspect is reportedly a former medical student at The University of Colorado.
According to police reports, James Holmes is wearing a bulletproof vest, a gas mask and dressed all in black. He reportedly threw a gas grenade before shooting the stunned audience. The suspect was apprehended by the cops after the shooting and they recovered a 12-gauge shotgun, assault rifle and two Glock handguns.
It seems James Holmes is really prepared with this insane act of violence as he "booby-trapped" his own apartment and according to the Aurora police Chief Dan Oates that they found "sophisticated material and devices".
New updates from TMZ reveals that the attacker was "sporting red hair and told people he was The Joker".
Meanwhile, Warner Bros. has canceled the Paris premiere of "The Dark Knight Rises," the last instalment of Christopher Nolan's Batman's trilogy. The company issued a statement about this incident.
"Warner Bros. is deeply saddened to learn about this shocking incident. We extend our sincere sympathies to the families and loved ones of the victims at this tragic time."
Total of 71 people shot -- a very scary, sad and traumatic incident. Many are criticizing the United States' gun laws and new reports revealed that all the guns used by James Holmes in this rampage massacre are purchased legally. >
