Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol |
There was one point in Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol where Tom Cruise was scaling up Dubai's 2,700 foot Burj Khalifa with only a pair of glasses and stick gloves. People who have a fear of heights and even those who aren't will be stunned in amazement after this mind boggling stunt. It will keep you on the edge of your seat when the camera shows you 130 floors below which makes it even more amazing that Cruise going on the age of 50 pulled of this stunt.
Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol is easily one of the most enjoyable adventure spy movies in a while because director Brad Bird brings in a lot of great factors from "believe it or not" moments, funny clever comedy, high action, wild ride, full of surprises. Just like The Incredibles Brad brings in a cast of superheros which are all their for own purposes but fit well together as a team.
This isn't just another mission as the Impossible Mission Force (IMF) is shut down when a warning is sent out that a global terrorist bombing plot. Ghost Protocol is initiated as Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) and his new rogue of team Jane Carter (Paula Patton) gadget-dude Benji (Simon Pegg) and dark analyst William Brandt (Jeremy Renner) now has to go undercover to cover their organization's name. No help, no contact, off the grid as IMF team must do whatever to stop a nuclear bomb so the world doesn't go Boom!
Director Brad Bird doesn't waste any time in starting the non-stop action scenes from a jail break in Moscow Russia, followed by Hunt and his team to penetrate a private vault at the Kremlin by wearing Russian uniforms and using a virtual-reality trick to pass security. Followed by wall-to-wall action from Cruise is breathtaking stunt in Dubai on the Burji Khalifa tower to a high speed foot and car chase in a sandstorm at full speed. Finishes off in a parking garage with moving platforms to stop a nuclear bomb.
Camera shoots and cinematography were shot great from the great detailing in dust from the sand storm to the blowing of a tower in London to Cruise daredevil stunt especially with the camera showing 130 floors below was just simply amazing too see. Despite a mission that is too impossible to handle at every twist and turn Ghost Protocol races along briskly, smoothly, nothing rushed expect the cheesy ending which could have been more dramatic and suspenseful. Performances from the supporting cast were nice too see. Anil Kapoor in a cameo was nice too as he fitted a sleazy Indian billionaire who allows Jane to take him down with not much difficulty.
Tom Cruise continues to prove why he still is one of the great actors off all-time going on 50 years old he still hasn't lost any of his charm. He totally gave him self to the role as he continues to be one of the great superhero's as he brings in both seriousness and humor as the leader of this mission.
I am going with three-and-a-half out of five for Director Brad Bird's Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol. This is a must watch fast paced mission that will keep you on the edge of your seat.
