The Week's Best US TV Musical Guests - Vulture Magazine

This week’s pick of the week on screen musical performance made for better TV than an episode of The Bachelor. And that’s saying a lot. Just wait until we reveal the lucky winner. Uh. It is so deliciously hideous you will laugh your tits off. Quite literally. They will slide off your chest and into the garbage.

The Late Late Show with James Corden provided great variety for our viewing pleasure with the likes of British rockers Wolf Alice and pop, R&B starlet Tori Kelly. Firstly, the rocking performance of ‘Moaning Lisa Smile’ by Wolf Alice was an absolute hit. Talk about glam rock. When you got flashing lights, guitars galore and a sick drummer you just know it’s gonna be high intensity. Plus, add in the slick back hair, smokey eye and red lip of leading lady Ellie Rowsell and a whole new meaning to sexy rock goddess is born. We thoroughly approve of this performance and hope future young rockers take a leaflet out of their book.

Tori Kelly. The YouTube star now signed to a major label. It’s the real rags to riches story. For real guys. But seriously, no-one can deny this girls voice. Her performance of her latest single ‘Should’ve Been Us’ showed off her big voice, crazy ad libs and silky runs but, she seemed to play it safe. While there’s nothing tacky about this girl, she’s almost a bit too squeaky clean. But hey, like we said, girl can saaaaaang.

Oooorities. Drum roll please. Our pick of the week goes to the #1 douchebage in showbiz. The irreparable Robin Thicke. Thicke graced The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon stage to perform his latest single ‘Back Together’ off his upcoming eighth studio album. Now, back in the day, Thicke was everything. His music was outstanding and he was married to the gorgeous Paula Patton. Flash-forward to 2013 and the release of his hit ‘Blurred Lines’ and he just lost the plot. The song itself was revolutionary but his performance with Miley Cyrus at the VMA’s was where it all started to unravel. He lost his wife and his music lost its allure. But alas, we love a good comeback. Well, sorta.

Thicke’s latest single is yet another open letter to try and win back his ex-wife. Here’s what we mean: “All I wanna do is get, get you back / Cause girl you’re still the best that I’ve ever had”. #RealityCheck she doesn’t want you back. Who would when you gave it to Miley Cyrus doggy style on worldwide TV? Uh. Idiot. Anyways, this performance was stiff, uncomfortable and just had Thicke snapping his fingers to the beat. Where have all your dance moves gone now, hey? It’s just getting embarrassing for the poor guy to be honest, but it does makes for really entertaining TV. So thank you Monsieur Thicke.
